The Hazard Perception Test is taken minutes after the theory test as part of the same examination.  It is computer touch screen the same as the Theory Test and consists of clips with developing hazards; one clip has two hazards to keep you on your toes.  As soon as the hazard appears there are five marks available; this reduces to one then zero over a period of seconds.  The pass mark for the car test is 44 out of 75 and the Hazard Perception Test must be passed at the same time as the theory  or you fail both tests and have to sit them again.

If the DVD is used for training it should

be used on a small screen no more than two feet from your face or it will be much easier than the real test.

When you are learning to drive you are learning to scan ahead, to the sides and in the mirrors for hazards.  The Driving Standards Agency have produced an interactive DVD to help you take the hazard perception test and this is recommended by Hurley School of Motoring.

When you learn to drive with Hurley School of Motoring Peter will

be happy to answer any questions you have on the hazard perception test.
